Re: Using sets like the BC-620, 604, 659, 222 etc.

I've often wondered if it was possible to ask for a special
"waver" from the FCC that would allow these rigs to operate
in original condition for historic preservation and display
purposes, assuming the users would assure no interference
to licenced users and must accept any interference they receive.
It's not like these set could possibly do any real harm to
a licensed user; a couple of watts of 15 KC WBFM on 15 meters,
10 meters or 42 MCs isn't even going to be noticed, not to mention
the milliwatts out of sets like BC-611 or BC-222.
We could agree to some specific restrictions- like a licensed
radio amateur must be present to supervise operation of the
equipment and be responsible for compliance, that any interference
to a licensed user would require an immediate halt, etc.
I don't know a single logical reason for denying something
like this, if it is presented in a thoughtful, tactful
and respectful manner.
What do you think?
