After going through my collection of Azon receivers and the Azon manual, here
is it's specs

The AZON tail assembly is fitted to a 1000lb bomb and consists of a radio
receiver, gyro, servo motor, battery, movable fin, and a flare for visual
observation

800,000 to 1,000,000 candle power flares were available red, white and green

The transmitter, RC 186 has 47 spot control frequencies in the 65 - 95 mhz
band at 17 watts. Two AM modulated frequencies , 475 and 3000 Hz are used to
control the left right control.

AN/CRW-2 super regenerative receivers were installed . Later upgraded to a
AN/CRW-7 crystal controlled superheterodyne receiver. Only one bomb per radio
channel can be controlled at one time.

About 14,070 were produced by the union switch and signal company at a cost
of $645 plus $120 for the bomb and fuse.

The prime development contractor was Gulf research and development in Texas

The AZON was also known as the VB-1
