In the original design, the transmitter's *internal*
antenna contact, oscillator B+ and PA cathode contacts
are "made" by the transmitter select switch
in the transmitter control box. When you select the
transmitter, these contacts close and stay closed.
The actual "keying" for either phone or CW happens
in the modulator, where all the B+ voltages are
keyed through a relay, and in the *external* antenna relay,
which does the break-in between the TX and RX. The relays
internal to the transmitter are not involved in keying
in the original design, only in "ham" use when one
does not have all the accessories.
