Seen today at hamfest. ( Offered for "retail price" and predictably, no takers.)
BC-1000-B with extra tag added to outside of control cover.
Flat metal (unpainted tag), rivited on, says PROPERTY OF US NAVY, letters embossed.
Next to calibrater-on button, a toggle switch was added: "B+ OFF" "ON".
I have never seen this mod, i don't think.
Also saw the (more or less) intact battery inside, which looks like one giant can of
SPAM, but O.D. color. Probably in 1944 the price of that special battery would be
enuff to take a grown man's breath away.
Also there was an inventory paper tag tied to set, various numbers and indentifier
SCR-300 and also the figure $240. ( but i don't remember if it said PRICE or VALUE.
i think it said price, because i was wondering if that really meant "COST" (as in
cost to Sam. ) As in $240 1944 dollars. Comments? - Hue Miller
