You don't have any extra accessories kicking around by chance, Jon?
I'd like to find the canvas cover and accessory pack(with
accessories).
I picked up my unit in September of 2003 from a guy nextdoor in NH.
Amusing part is, I actually closed the deal for it while out on the
left coast in Washinton state. The guy had listed it on ebay with a
high opening bid ($199, IIRC) and when I got the chance to check from
7 land, it had ended with no bids. So I contacted him, we agreed on
$150, and I picked it up a couple weeks later when I was back home.
The unit is made by Zenith, matching s/n on the receiver, PS, Case.
Came with the power cable, manual, shockmount, spares kit, and 4
antenna sections. Very clean, doesn't appear to have seen much (if
any) use. No idea why it got no bids and now they seem to be bringing
big money for marginal examples.
Honestly, it's not what you'd call a 'hot' receiver by any means. It
has limited coverage, limited functions, and makes that nice
'hmmmmmmm' vibrator sound. It is quite an interesting little package
though, and does look like a 'real radio'. My original idea was to use
it as a garage radio - until I got it home. It now resides by my
bedside, even drilled a hole through the ceiling for the antenna to
pass through.
One thing I've noticed: unscrewing the spare fuse cover seems to
improve the audio/base response. I'm guessing that doing this allows
the spare fuse compartment to act like a speaker port. Guess they did
a good job of sealing it up!
