Yes, we Americans certainly did quickly ditch the regens, but not all allies 
did.  I have it direct that the Brits were using regens throughout the war 
on minesweepers and some merchant ships.  The Germans most certainly knew 
about receiver radiation, but figured it was only detectable at a few miles, 
where they could see the ships anyway.  They probably monitored 500 kc, and 
utilized whatever they heard.
