Ken, Hue, et al,

PP-86(*)/TXC-1 is part of AN/TXC-1(*), a FAX receiving and transmitting set
first made just after the end of WW-II (~ 1947 I think). The PP-86E would have
been built around 1954-55. Consists of a 550 VDC rectifier power supply (the
5Z3 and associated components) and an 1800 CPS lamp amplifier supplying
regulated 6 volts at 1800 CPS to the transmit lamp in the TT-1(*)/TXC-1 (all of the
loctal tubes). Models made were PP-86, two variants of PP-86A, PP-86B and
PP-86E. Manual is TM 11-2258. No detailed parts list in the TM but reading
between the lines it appears that the output rating of the DC supply would be
around 350 MA. The other windings on the power transformer are 5V/3A for the
5Z3, 6.5V/1.75A and 6.5V/6.25A.
