Yes, albino, that's a good way of putting it.  Apparently the die that was 
used in manufacturing is soluble in carbon tet-or whatever they use for dry 
cleaning these days.

As far as the zipper, you bring up a good point.  It seems the critical 
thing would be the drying process-getting the zipper completely dry quickly 
after the wash.  I don't know of any other cleaning options since dry 
cleaning seems to be out.

Maybe someone else has some ideas?
