Related story:  Carl was one of the principals running the 1958 West Gulf ARRL convention in OK City.  Come midnight, he ran all the partiers out of the ballroom so they could hold the Wouff Hong in there.  Why there???  Made a lot of ARRL-WG voters mad.  He couldn't understand why he lost the election for WG Director the following year.  WG Convention hasn't been back either.
