I remember this only in first grade.  That would put it in
the '67-'68 time frame. I don't know if it was a general practice
in the school district.  More likely was the case that if the teacher was 
having a "bad day", she went to the closet and got out a movie or two to
shut us up for a while!  I remember that after we watched it, every 
contrail 
we saw at recess had to be an incoming missel or an outbound B-52 and 
was reason for us to do the drill.  There was one time when the air horn 
at 
the fire dept. stuck on.  That was a bit scary, I was older then but was 
looking for the
"Bright Flash".

To add radio info, I just became the caretaker of A National NC100(X?)with 
matching speaker.
It has a National S meter in place of the tuning eye tube.  Was this a 
standard option 
from National?  Probably a better question to put on the BA list... Sorry.
