I was born in 1945 and in the early 50's, we not only practiced the duck and 
cover at elementary school
but we were blood typed and give GI type dog tags that had out names, blood 
type, and religious
preference on them.... I guess so we could be buried with the proper 
ceremony.  I grew up in Denton TX
about 30 miles north of Carswell AFB in Ft Worth which was a SAC base back 
then.  As a kid I remember watching everything from B-36's to B-52's and 
tankers flying over.
