I was just getting interested in radio when Conelrad ended in 1963.  My dad and many of his friends had been hams since the early 1950s.  I never knew of any ham who actually had the required Conelrad monitoring gear that the regulations required.

I love those old AM BCB radios that have the CD markers at 640 and 1240 kc.   

I'm sort of nostalgic for the Cold War, in which I spent my military time mostly pointing MIRV missiles from a submarine.  Seems like things were more predictable then, and the adversary wasn't duped and doped-up by promises of martyrdom in holy war.
