hi group,
its an interesting dilemma sorting out whether such a radio
is worth the effort to restore as well, but with rare radios such as the
japanese radio,i'd do only preservation ,to prevent it from falling
apart ,no more than that.and if a better example turns up i'd electicaly
restore it and leave the outside alone.unless there are more holes etc
drilled in the front panel,as is the case with many BC-348's with so
called 'inprovements...',i'd endevour to repair/restore the front panel
as best i can.as it stands i do what electical/electronic repairs and
restoration to original circuits as possible,to restore the radio to
operational condition.

i think that restoration of radios can take a fair while to do, as i'm
still restoring a BC-348-M its taken me about 6 months in total to
remove the "inprovements..." and get it back to as near to original
as possible, mind you it still has the mains operated power supply in it.

anyway enough of my rants....on the "inprovements...." in BC-348's

highest regards
leigh
