We had a pair of AN/TRC-1s at the lashup site from Red Cliff, NFLD to
Torbay aitport for the 152nd AC&W Group (became 64th AD) About a 6-7 mile
shot to pass radar plot info. We use one unit with 4 channels and kept
second set as backup. Alway kept a radio operator at the site in case TRC-1
one went down. Operator used BC-191/BC-342 on voice. When I was on duty
as operator at night spent most of my time on target simulator helping
train scope operators. We never had TRC-1 blow the power
transformer. With such a sort haul we ran ours at low power as
possible. If you did not push the set it worked fine. It was acually a 3
channel + one maintenance channel.
