I have used those, but in a TRC-1 configuration,
without the amplifier. There were some radio
relay systems in Europe and Africa during and
after the war, (WWII for yur newbes), but they
were soon replaced by Siemens-Halske equipment
because the damn things weren't reliable. The
power transformer in the T-14 exploded with tar
all over, and the R-19 had a rectifier choke
that always melted. The gasoline engine PE-95
was used all over in many applications. We
had to use some TRC-1 in Korea because we didn't
have anything else. I have pictures. The radio
relay book had a nomogram on frequency selection,
and you wouldn't believe how many little crystals
there were in that box. End of Trivia.
