[Milsurplus] find at the hamfest - BB-449 battery box

Found a deal on a military surplus battery box, for $1.50 at the 
Berryville hamfest today.  Box is in nice shape, about the size of a lunch 
box, has latches, made out of steel.  Box is BB-449/U.  Does anyone know 
what this box is used in conjunction with?  A Google search turned up 
nothing.  Thanks for any help,
