I recall seeing this on a program not so long ago. Also had a tape of
the almost-successful attempt to save the Kee Bird from Greenland back
in the early 90s. Sad ending there. I had heard that the pcCAF (did I
get that right?) was planning to retreive the rebuilt engines and
props a while back, no idea if they succeeded.
However Fred - if you have a little extra pocket change, there is (or
was) a B-29 available for a mere $1.5 mil. This is before restoration,
mind you. But it's currently in transportable pieces. I'll check my
penny jug, we can pool our resources. (o:
Talk about the ultimate radio room to dusplay your period avionics in....
Did Boeing ever get Doc completed and flying? IIRC, their restoration
was to include the correct radio gear as well.
