[Milsurplus] Removing beeswax from slug-tuned transformers

Does anyone recall how to safely (i.e., other than by digging it out 
mechanically) remove beeswax from slug tuned transformers and coils?  I vaguely recall 
that there was a method but for the life of me can't remember what it was.
