Ken try this.

Back-connect a 1N4007 between osc. stator & gnd & at tie-pt to cap
dangle, say, a 2.5mh RFC. who's other end takes off on a wire thru 'phones' 
jack.  Thru same hole goes audio out.  These end in a little tupperware box
where sits a phone jack, a 9V battery, and a pot w. an on-off switch.

I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to figure connections.

1N4007 w. 4-8V gives 5-14 pf.... good for 20kcs on 20m in that
