Do i seem to recall reading that crash damage crushed the Command equipment?
The Libyan government hauled the whole kit and kiboodle off somewhere as a
future tourist attraction. At least while outside it's in some dry climate. And with
the process of normalizing political relations USA - Libya, the future is almost now.
You can go to Libya as a tourist. I have thought before it would be interesting to
visit the sites of some of the famous WW2 armor battles there, or maybe some
of the places my father was at in the 444th AA. But that would possibly require
a good deal of diligent homework to learn exactly where the precise locations
are; i don't think the Libyans particularly cared to preserve this knowledge, as
they maybe reckon the remains of powerful ancient empires there to be more
glorious. I'd be pretty sure all the loose metal has long since been scooped
up, but there are still minefields, i bet, if you want "adventure travel". I wonder
if the military graves there are marked or if the sand and wind has extinguished
any traces. -Hue Miller
