The DF log showed the aircraft as being
inbound until contact was lost.  They were
never really sure where the aircraft went.
There's only a few people who would be
involved in a thing like this.  I don't
know that the aircraft was based at the
same place the DF station was located.  So
I have no idea what info the Squadron who
owned the airplane received.  And, back in
those days it was almost impossible to find
anything in the water or on the ground unless
you knew pretty well where it was before you
went looking.
