ALL of the ARC-5 (type) receivers were built with resistor which were NOT 
insulated.

Most carbon resistors have a phenolic-like material around the carbon: the 
ARC-5 receivers'  resistors are missing that phenolic insulator, so if you 
touch the center or body of one of those resistors while the receiver is on, it 
will burn out the resistor.
