And in the Sacramento California area......
Slagel (sp?) Surplus in an old car dealership
in North Sacramento. They had stacks of
cannabalized KWM-2s and what I think were
ARC-38s both AM and SSB versions. Found an
LAJ audio oscillator for 5 bucks that I'm still using
today.
The various incarnations of Selectronics?
Valley Surplus, mostly parts and components, but
there was a fire engine red BC-348 there for a while.
Then while driving around near Rio Linda(suburb of
Sacramento) saw an old quonset hut that used
to be an electronic surplus place, but long since
gone to seed, and I used to live there in the 60s, drat.
And not quite in Sacramento.....
There was this little surplus/ham store at the
Oxnard, CA airport circa 1965. I bought an R-28/ARC-5 there
for 5 bucks, and wish to heck I still had it today.
Surprised no one has mentioned Apex in the
San Fernando Valley, haven't been there in a
couple of years, is it still there? Piles of connectors
(everyone but the *one* you need). Did buy a couple
of groaty DY-17s about 7 or 8 years ago, and didn't buy
an MN-62 out in the yard because "it isn't for sale".
