Was able to afford one of each of the command receivers and hook them up
using a power supply from a radio out of a local trash can. Glorious time
hunting for strange and mysterious signals out of the ether.

Remember blowing my weekly allowance on one of the FM tank transmitters
(BC-604) & struggling getting it on to  and off of the bus, much to the
dismay of fellow passengers who had a few unkind words to say about the kid
with the big *$#@ metal box.
