[Milsurplus] re surplus stores then and now

In Mineapolis when I was growing up in the 50's there was a place on  
Plymouth Ave. called Acme Electronics.  We all called it "Surplus Sams"  because one 
of the brothers who owned was named Sam Hodroff.  His brother  was Lou, but 
Surplus Sam had a ring to it.  It was in an old movie theatre  building. You 
could find all manner of parts and supplies and always a good  supply of ARC-5 
receivers and transmitters new in the box.  I also remember  they had some 
BC-603 gear with one of the receivers tuned to the Minneapolis  Police frequency 
which was on the low band of 6 meters at the time.    Ahh the memories....
