I have noticed there is a recurring theme on lists interested in military
surplus equipment of the sort "I remember this great surplus store in downtown
xxxxxx right near the bakery....." They had such GREAT BC-whatevers and think
it'd be interesting to make a compilation of such stores.
In addition, there is no real reason to limit it to historical places. To this
end, I'm asking people to email me their reminiscences of surplus equipment
stores, both old time and modern, to:

In due course, we will put up a web page on the Trackpads site:
http://www.trackpads.net/webs/wireless-set-no19/index.htm
for the listings. The write-ups need not be more than a few lines. Here's a
sample to get people started:
North American Electronics. This was a little store on St. Catherine Street
East in Montreal and sold a lot of 19 sets and similar equipment in the late
1950 through roughly the 1970s or 1980s. In the early 60s, they were selling the
Canadian High Power Amplifiers in very nice condition, but they were beyond my
budget. By the '80s, they had largely become largely a parts store, although had
some refurbished variometers and Working Instructions. They seem to have
disappeared since. Interestingly, another surplus store with more recent gear
appeared a few doors to the west of their location in the 90s.
