I was entertained and educated by the previous discussion of the JAN AN/
nomenclature system.  Unfortunately, I was looking at one of the
designation sites and encountered:

AN/ATC - Airborne Wire Telephone Communications Equipment

Now, could someone explain exactly how one does this??????????  Is this
trailing wires?  Looooong trailing wires?  Or simply a complicated way of
designating interphones?
