Mike's quite right, but I'll bet the Navy guys were gritting their teeth 
in the meantime and slathering on the wax or MFP...   :-)    A lot 
depends on the type of Navy aircraft they were installed in...some of 
them evidently leaked like sieves, some were fairly dry inside.  I've 
also seen some pretty ratty T-23s with all kinds of corrosion on their 
outside, so who knows where they were in service...
