Towers did transmit on LF.  It was 230 KHz or
something like that.  The switch on the receiver
you're talking about selected the audio filter.
"Range" passed 1040 HZ only.  "Broadcast" should
block 1040,  "Tower" should remove the filter.
Are you sure the switch isn't labeled "Filter",
because it is a filter switch?  (Tower's with
HF used 6440 KHz.)
