As late as 1948/49 the RAF was using Eureka beacons
for air navigation. During the Air Lift the Eureka was
used much the same way as we used LF Homing beacons.
We had one at Deedelsdorf, and it didn't take up much
space on the card table in the attic of this German
family's house. Our BC-191, etc, was much larger and
heavier. I had an occasion to see the fish bone scope
pattern the aircraft used. They were way ahead of us
in pulsed systems in general.
