Does anybody remember the system on the west coast that started with a 
"C" I think. You would listen for the identifier and the count the dots 
or dashes which when it stopped that was the Bearing line you were on 
from that station and you could tune in another and the count would 
provide you with an "AP" on the chart. I used it numerous time in the 
mid 60's while ferrying plane to Taiwan. In 66/67/68 used APN-4/9 in SEA 
while flying SEA Vietnam area.
LORAN C is a major improvement over A like night and day.
