LORAN is not mandated as supplemental for aircraft navigation. It can be
used for instrument navigation (No approaches). President Clinton issued an
order extending the life of the LORAN C system until 2010.

LORAN C got an indefinate repreive, and is now being mandated as a
supplemental positioning receiver in all new aircraft GPS's
