[Milsurplus] Lead solder banned?

Hi:

Europe has some rule that limits the amount of lead in any item imported 
after some date like 2005.  To comply most commercial electronic 
manufacturers are switching over to lead free assembly.  Since this 
requires components that are tinned with lead free solder the component 
manufacturers are coming out with lead free components.  This applies 
mostly to surface mount parts.  Check out a Digi-Key or Mouser catalog 
and you'll see many pages of lead free parts.
