I have an automatic antenna coupler which I've been told was used used with
the ARC-65.
It's in a pressurized cylinder about 18 inches long and has the following
designations:
Name: Antenna Coupler
Part Number: 7010340
Mfgr: Univac Sperry-Rand Corporation
Fedeal Stock Number: 5985-00927-0416cx
Type: 3254c1
There is a threaded connection for the antenna at one end.
The are two connectors at the other end. One is a RF "C" connector, labeled
XMTR 1A5J.
The other is a 20 pin connector, labeled CONTROL 1A9J5.
There is a printed circuit board at this end with the designation
"descriminator".
I guess this was used to detect the SWR or power as it was tuning.
Inside are various capacitors, including a motor driven Vacumn variable
capacitor. A motor
driven inductor is also included. By the values of the capacitors and
inductor, it looks like it
operates in the HF range.
I'd like to find any information, schematics or documentation about this
tuner since I'd
like to use it in it's original state. I assume I can tune the capacitor and
inductor
and monitor the SWR via the CONTROL connector.
Thanks in advance.
