Scott,

I really don't see that characteristic much.  BTW, the military version of
the 18S was the RT-380/AR, and the system it was in was called the
AN/ARC-59.  Though I have an 18S-4, I've always regretted missing out on
Fair Radio's RT-380/AR sets, which were very inexpensive in surplus.  These
sets would be rather easy to put on the air, if you could live with the
restriction to 20 crystal-controlled channels!
