Hi
How ever far you can get on 80 meters with a 1/4 watt of AM you are
going to get a lot less distance on 160 with the same power and short
antenna.
The thing that still amazes me about this all is that they were trying
to do all this at the low frequency end of the radio's range. It would
be interesting to see if there is any real evidence that they were down
at 2.0 MHz and not up quite a bit higher. With all the radios involved
being capable of VFO operation a frequency change would have at least
theoretically been possible.
The lack of any real documentation makes me wonder if we are chasing a
phantom here ...
