I have received several inquiries in the last several weeks with folks
that are having trouble with adding a modification to their PRC-47 for
variable tuning. The mod that was attempted consisted of working in the
area of "K-6 and
varying the source voltages that are supplied to varactor diodes in the
translator module." This mod was published several years ago and does
not work, it is unstable.

I have developed a simple, effective, and stable mod and it has
been on my web page for some time. The mod requires a very low parts count
and the frequency read out remain the same when the "adjustment knob" is at
the center position.
Try it , it works and unlike other
modifications that has been published by others it has been tested on
several radios and field tested before release.
