I believe it is. Vinyl compounds sometimes break down releasing hydrochloric and other acids,
either because of heating or bad formulation or attack by oils. It gets to be green because of
copper or nickel ions leached from nearby metal parts. This is NOT the same as an anti-galling
lube.
