Did it have a finned, black-painted die-cast aluminum case? Did it
clip on to the receiver with the standard dynamotor baseplate? ARC made
some of these for ARC Type 12 & Type 15 gear (ARN-30). They came in
both 24V & 12V flavors and ARC called them dynaverters.
They switch slowly (by modern standards) and are noisy electrically &
acoustically, but the electrical noise can be cleaned up fairly easily
with just an RF choke. They are way more efficient than a dynamotor and
of course have no startup current surge.
Nice items, some years ago I saw hundreds of them at a Sacramento
scrapyard but I fear that they are completely out of the surplus
disposal system by now.
