Dennis,
The R-105M covers 36.0 to 46.1 MHz, the R-108M covers 28.0 to 36.5 MHz, and
the R-109M covers 21.5 to 28.5 MHz. Except for the frequency coverage,
they're otherwise identical. They're powered by four KN14 batteries. The
KN14 is a 1.2 V wet cell rechargeable battery and in the R-105/8/9M they're
connected in series, with a center tap (-2.4 V/ 0/+2.4 V). The power supply
is a solid-state inverter type.
The R-105M instructions would do fine for the R-108M. The mode of operation
is FM, with power output of 1 W. Maximum deviation is +/- 5 KHz. The
primary current in transmit is 2 A, and in receive 0.8 A.
The receiver sensitivity is 2 microvolt, the IF frequency of the receiver
section is 793.8 KHz.
The frequency display is a back-lit transparent dial with direct frequency
markings, and is viewed via the magnifying glass eyepiece.
Anything else? :)

Subject: [Milsurplus] Russian P-108M
All,
I have a Russian transceiver here labeled P-108M with accessories (antenna
and handset), a bunch of instructions in Russian and an English translation
of rudimentary operating instructions. The English instructions are for an
R-105M, but the picture shown looks exactly like what I have. Presume the
Cyrillic "P" translates to "R" but how about the 105? Looking through the
eye piece and shining a flashlight behind the front panel the frequency
scale reads 28 to 36.4 which I presume is MHz. I would also presume the
modulation type is FM.
The thing took two batteries (wet cells?) connected in parallel according to
the lashup in the rear battery compartment. My main question at this point
is what is the battery voltage??? Remember seeing threads on this subject
in the past but didn't pay attention at the time.
The set is in real nice shape. Any help would be appreciated.
