Final Report from Dayton:
Although the weather was a little worse then usual, it always rains at
Dayton. I have to say that I thought the Ham fest was good from the "Mil
Radio" aspect. Selling this year was better then ever, I sold almost
everything that I brought with me. Their were many military radios out
for sale, from dealers with very clean and carefully labeled sets placed
neatly on tables to the people with mounds of stuff on the ground. I
noticed more of the Second World War stuff then normally their. Like I
said before, I saw several ART-13 in the range of $250 and up. The ARC-5
stuff was their but it was pricey for the clean sets, did not see a
signal control head or shock mount. Their was plenty of newer stuff too,
I saw several LST-5 going for $350 and up, a nice URC-110 for around
$1,000 and the some VRC-12s for around $300 and up. Think they are
finally starting to drop in price. PRC-77 were about $250 and saw about
five or six at that price. And don't forget the space with the huge
collection of Iraqi war trophies for sale, more Russian radios then I
have seen in one place before. As commented on earlier both nets went
well, wet but well. Because I had the truck in the tailgate area I had a
dry place to operate from. This should just about do it from here, now
got to go home and try to figure out how this Yugo PD-9 works. Next big
show will probably be Gaithersburg in September, and it will be back at
the old location and maybe be as big as it once was.
