Saturday at Dayton, rain all day up until around 1600 hours local, then
clearing but cold. rain was light to moderate all day. Many people still
set up and sold under tarps and tents. Almost all of the sellers from
yesterday were there today--- although there was only about a quarter of the
buyers.
Many sellers set up late or not at all. both nets went well. The WA4VAG
3885 net had about a dozen check ins, Net Control used a AVT receiver and
transmitter driven by a twelve volt dynomotor-- most check ins were BC-611's
with additional stations running a TBX-6 (me), and another station had a
pogo stick with the
chest pack for battery and microphone, and of course the newer radios like a
PRC-70.
The K9WT 51.0 "cold war net" had about two dozen check ins--- everything
from PRC-6,PRC-10 and WA4VAG's hand cranked GRC-68, I did not know there was
a hand generator for that radio--- also represented were newer radios,
Net control used his same PRC-70 from the early net, a couple Russian
radios (my R-107) and at least one SEM-52. overall have to say its
surprising how many people will stand out in he rain to play with their
radios and have pictures taken. For myself, I had to spend some money
and buy a new "Yugo" tank radio, you know what they say about a fool and
his money. tomorrow will be a much better weather day but do not think I
will
be there , so that's all for now.
