The Russian 107 project is just about complete, the radio had been
striped down , cleaned and repaired- their was a shorted coupling
capacitor in the 8 MHZ IF, the NiCad packs cleaned and charged and the
radio appears to be working good. very good stability for a radio of its
age, no noticeable drift in receive and transmit, at least according to
my CE-31. and a receiver sensitivity of just about 1 micro volt for
about 10 Db sinad. But their is still one problem that perplexes me to
no end. I have looked at the cover for the R-107 for a week now and
cannot make any sense of it, it has two thumb screws and two hasps
fasteners. the two thumb screws are on the bottom of the cover and the
hasps on the top. have tried and tried to figure how to attach the cover
using just the hasps but cannot, to me it appears that the cover is
either snapped and screwed on or removed and if this is the case why
have two different attachment systems? maybe the two thumbscrew holes
have some application in a vehicle mount? have asked one of the most
knowledgeable person I know about this and he has looked at his radios
and is not certain, lets see if anyone on the list knows.
Also I will be using the radio for check in and operation on the "cold
war" net at Dayton this year, so if you want to see or use it in person
we will be their.Ray Fantini KA3EKH
