The discussion of recollections of using GRC-9's and -109's reminded me that
during my criminology studies, it was stressed that eye-witnesses are generally
worse than useless: they THINK they know what they saw; but unfortunately, what
they don't remember, their imagination supplies - typically, if you have, say, 5
witnesses to an event, you'll have five differing accounts, NONE of which may be
correct! (Investigators privately call "eye-witnesses", "eye-witlesses" ...)
And the longer the gap between the event and the interview, the worse it will be
... plus, as someone mentioned, some consciously lie, for self-aggrandizement,
or other nefarious reasons!
Recently, I was trying to remember what brand of o-scope I'd used back in '72
when I worked for a TV-repair shop. Now, bear in mind, I had years of
electronics experience and training by then, and an intense interest in
everything pertaining thereto, yet, if you put a gun to my head, all I could do
is lie: I have only the vaguest notion what brand the o'scope was. I *think* it
was an EICO 360, so that's what I'd say if forced, but ... e
