Jim & Group,

I recently acquired an early (1937) manual on the SCR-177 and SCR-188 that
includes a parts list and schematic on the BC-189-A (actually the schematic says
BC-189 and the parts list says BC-189-A, the second model). It uses four
39/44, three 36 and one 38 tube, tunes 150 KC to 12.5 MC with 11 plug-in coil
sets and has an 845 KC IF. The BC-312 and BC-314 that replaced it are I'd say
decided improvements. The SCR-177 manual refers the user to a manual on the
SCR-189 and SCR-189-A for further details (and I've never come across it). The
only performance comments are that the receiver is "unstable and extremely
erratic" near the IF frequency. Duh!
