No provision for nameplate? No military or commercial production!
Prototype? Nonsense!

I have a 19" rack mount BC-348 also, but in grey wrinkle. For a long time
i regarded it as a bastid, even entertained mean thoughts of making it a
parts source, but i've come to regard it as a unique creation. Only thing 
i don't like is that without the original cabinet, fitting in a 19" rack cabinet
box, it takes up more space, and is heavier!
Which reminds me of the "Tektronix ARR-15", assembled by a bunch of
Tek employees with the front panel produced as a private project using 
Tek facilities. Only you end up with a receiver that is not just deep, but
very too, 19". Try to find a cabinet that's wide AND deep!
