Subject:	[Milsurplus] The D Day question?

If beach masters all used BC-611 HT radios who did they talk to? always
thought the army was using BC-1000 technology by then and operating in
the "tactical" FM band. perhaps the 611 was used to net with TCS radios
in landing crafts? or maybe just to net together with other 611 units,
although that would be limited range. Also cannot imagine communicating
from shore to ships with a 611. What type of radio would be used for
coordination of fire control with the navy ? not like they used the
tactical FM band, although the old TBS radios of the period may have
produced as much FM as AM. Maybe their was another intermediate radio
for use for that traffic? like a TCS on a jeep?
