According to Bob Keys, NA4G, on the Boatanchors list, if you adjust the
T/R relay properly you won't have chirp. The manual explains how to set
the contact timing so that the oscillator gets HV before the RF hits the
antenna. The rig was designed with "differential keying", but many hams
"improved" the keying circuit and signal quality suffered!  Another
argument for leaving the old rigs unmodified. :-)
