I thank all of you for your information concerning the VOR. However, i
am basically familiar with VOR-TACAN-DME workings. What i was trying to
get was information on this particular piece of equipment.

As it's a handheld unit with a dipole arrangement, half on each side of
the box, would it function as a DF unit for VHF or is that not it's
primary function? As it has no means of indicating direction other than
at right angles to the dipole or for a null off the ends, it may not be
suitable if the sensitivity isn't there. Maybe it's just a relative
signal strength indicating device whereas you have to stand in a
particular spot and get a particular reading on the meter which has a
calibrated chart to tell you that the transmitter is putting out a
specified amount of power. Don't know, just trying to get some ideas on
how it might have worked. The dipole ends that screw onto a bolt stud
coming out of the end of a cone type insulator on easch side of the box
are adjustable in length.

If anyone cares to see pictures of it, i'll take a couple and send them
out. This has a neat wooden handle that screws into the bottom of the
box. I'd think it could work with some changes up on the 2 meter band.

Thanks

Larry
