5709372659 is the "straight" R-390, (And an actual Collins,
not a Motorola ) the item number in the original message
is for an R-725 that is as ridiculously priced. And I have
a problem with the listing. It's not a "real" R-725 since
it has the bandwidth knob replaced. There should be a
plate there that would have said "Modified by Servo
Systems, etc etc"

An R-725 is an R-390 modified for DF service. The stock
IF deck is replaced with the deck from an R-390 as the
mechanical filters introduce too much group delay for
decent DF use. The module mounted forward of the
power supply is the power for the "new" IF deck. Also
The IF bandwidth is fixed on an R-725 and the bandwidth
knob is removed and that spot covered with a blank plate,
if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure it was on the
R-725 I had long ago.

The radio *is* pretty, as is the black '67 EAC he has up
as well. Be that as it may, look at his other auctions. I want
some of what this guy is smoking...

And just who is "Dario of Abilene"??

I know it ain't nice to fuss about folks asking prices
on ebay, and I know I don't have to bid on the thing. BUT
If that and his other auctions bring the reserve price,
I'm getting out of radio. I'll put up all my R-390A's and
SP-600's on ebay with 10 grand buy it now's claim them
all as Collins (and include a bag of Genuine Art Collins
Toenail Clippings) and pay off the house or something.

Besides, I'm jealous, I sold a minty all-collins-down-to
the-antenna-relay, coil cans and tube shields, and only
got $1200 for mine last winter.
